Hook Underpass on A3 near Esher reportedly flooded

An underpass on the A3 in Surrey has reportedly flooded, causing difficulty for traffic in both directions.

The Hook underpass near Esher previously caused three road closures in a day on August 7 due to flooding.

Traffic service Jambuster said on Twitter shortly after 3am on Tuesday morning: A3 Hook Underpass (A3) (KT6/KT9) (All Directions) – Reports of flooding. Approach with caution.”

Back in August the road was closed for just over half an hour in the morning, before the northbound carriageway shut again less than 90 minutes after reopening.

On that occasion the flooding was between the A244 Copsem Lane and A243 Hook Road.

The Hook Underpass connects the Kingston Bypass in Chessington to the A3 in Tolworth.
