St George’s Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square with music and food

Taking place on Sunday, April 19, this year marks the 19th edition of the Mayor of London’s free and family-friendly celebration of England’s national day.

With the square decked out in red and white, the festival will run from 12pm to 6pm, promising live entertainment, food, and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, said: “Our annual St George’s Day festival is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the best of English culture in the heart of our capital.

“With great music, performances and activities, our free family-friendly afternoon brings Londoners and visitors of all backgrounds together to enjoy what it means to be English.

“It’s a wonderful reminder of the history and values that unite us, as we build a better London for everyone.”

The main stage will be hosted by classically trained singer and impressionist Jess Robinson and will feature performances by Vincent Burke, Emzae, poet Zita Holbourne, and a Cockney singalong led by Tom Carradine.

Ms Robinson said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting this year’s St George’s Day Festival in Trafalgar Square.

“Where else do you get live music, great food, and a dragon roaming about?

“It’s going to be a joyful, slightly bonkers day and I’m very happy to be part of it.”

Mr Maguire said: “With the lighter evenings brings brighter ingredients in the kitchen and although I’m still a bit too nervous to wheel out the BBQ just yet, I can’t wait to showcase some of my favourite recipes at this brilliant event.”
