Suspected offender tried to discard knife during foot chase by police

A suspected offender has been arrested with the help of the police’s dog section after trying to escape while attempting to dispose of a knife.

Police on patrol tried to stop the person in Camberwell in the centre of London, who then tried to make off.

The Met Police Taskforce tweeted at 4.26am today (Sunday): “U414 on patrol in @MPSSouthwark had cause to stop a male in #Camberwell

“He then made off and was seen by officers to discard the below weapon. Following the foot chase, he was safely arrested and the weapon was recovered with the assistance of ‘P0’ Dog section.”
