If you live south of the River Thames you’ll hate the London Underground about as much as you love it.
There’s no doubting it’s very useful, helping you nip across from Waterloo to Kings Cross in no time at all – but there are parts of London woefully underserved.
Anyone travelling from Greater London – in particular South London – will find it tricky to get anywhere except Zone 1, if you’re lucky enough to be served by a Tube line at all.
Your friend may be in a neighbouring borough, but to go over to their flat you’ll likely still need to travel in to Central London then back out.

We wrote a piece about five Tube lines that we would love to see built, and readers emailed in with their own suggestions too.
While we understand that these new lines may not be feasible for any number of reasons, from money to building space, Londoners can still dream.
Here are some of the London Underground extensions and stations that Londoners desperately want, as proposed by you.
Northern extension of the Victoria Line
The reader said: “I live in Walthamstow, and currently there is a real lack of a direct rail connection between Walthamstow and Stratford, a major East London transportation hub.
“My idea would be to extend the Victoria Line from Walthamstow, plug the gap between the Victoria and Central lines by providing an interchange, and provide new links to other areas that are rapidly being developed.”
We don’t think that’s a half bad idea.
Whipps Cross station
A suggested new station to be added to the Tube network is that of Whipps Cross, located around the former roundabout.
It was highlighted than not only would the station provide an Underground service to a major residential area for the very first time, it would also connect the nearby hospital and Hollow Ponds.
Plashet Road station
Another new station idea, one that a reader admitted would ‘probably be controversial’ is one at Plashet, sitting on the junction of Upton Lane and Portway.
It would however require taking land from West Ham Park, and they said ” I’d imagine opponents arguing there are existing options nearby at Plaistow” so we don’t think we’ll see that happening any time soon.
Southern extension of the Victoria Line
It seems that MyLondon readers really want to see the Victoria Line extended!

This individual suggested that the line would go further south than Brixton, travelling through Streatham Hill, Streatham and Streatham Common, before terminating in Croydon.
We definitely agree that this area of London needs to be given its own Underground connection – and this one makes a lot of sense.
